Inspired by the Chinese proverb - ‘大好河山’, meaning the Great Rivers and Mountains on the infinitely beautiful motherland. The proverb is from the essay - "General Admonishment to Compatriots" 《普告同胞檄稿》 written by the female poet, also a revolutionist in the late Qing Dynasty, her name - Qiu Jin ‘秋瑾’. I make this artwork to express my respect for her patriotic spirit, also my admiration for her determination to save the motherland from peril. This series of artworks will have continuations, stay tuned!
This artwork makes the most of the DuPont™ Tyvek® material and have produced minimum waste. It replaces the ordinary cotton-linen canvas. Also, the mountains in collage patterns is made by the carefully hand-crafted DuPont™ Tyvek® pieces.
The Great Rivers & Mountains I (2023) is signed on the back and includes my Certificate of Authenticity .
